Brontë House pupils enjoy an excellent record in ABRSM and Rock School music examinations.
Pupils are encouraged to learn a musical instrument and also to get involved in concerts and productions.
All pupils in Year 2 learn to play the recorder and all pupils in Year 3 receive tuition on an orchestral instrument. We have a well qualified team of visiting instrumental staff who give individual music lessons to pupils on all orchestral instruments plus piano, voice and drum kit. There is a school choir, orchestra and rock band as well as other ensembles, to suit all musical tastes and abilities.
As well as music lessons, all pupils in Year 3 and 4 receive weekly dance tuition from a professional choreographer and Speech and Drama lessons are available on an individual and small group basis.
All year groups are involved in Christmas productions as well as a number of concerts and other musical events during the school year, including Harvest Festival and Founders’ Day, both of which are held in the School Chapel. Year 6 children end their time at Brontë House by performing a musical production. Previous years have included shows such as Bugsy Malone, Grease, We Will Rock You and Matilda and are hugely enjoyed by children, staff and parents alike.
With excellent facilities and teaching, there is the opportunity for everyone to get involved in – and enjoy – this important part of school life. It is a joy to see our pupils learn to work with one another, grow in confidence and become competent and confident performers.
